The Guernica film [1949, co-directed by Robert Hessens] isn’t dissimilar to Night and Fog. It lays bare the piss of enjoyment.
Picasso was the greatest. And his images lose no power for having been filmed in black-and-white. Of course "Guernica" the painting is itself the color of newsprint.
Painting will never be exhausted. Picasso shows the route. •
